On Surfari – My New Favorite Show

A few months ago I happened upon this terrific show on the Fuel channel. On Surfari shows the worldwide travels of Shayne and Shannon McIntyre and their search for surf on any coast they can find it. They even take their little son with them.

From the first time I saw the show, I had a very satisfying suspicion that the McIntyre’s are Christians. It was such a pleasant discovery. The first episode I watched found Shayne and Shannon seeking waves in Italy. Shayne explained how he’d first read about waves in Italy in the Bible. He told about Paul’s adventures and from then on I was so intrigued. I immediately set the DVR to record every episode of On Surfari it could find. At the end of nearly every episode, during the credits, they give thanks to God or Jesus Christ. And, some of the songs they use during their shows even point to their unwavering faith. And, even more, from what I’ve seen on the show, they live their lives in such a way that proves their love for God and love for people.

What a blessing! Two really cool people, who are really good at what they do, who love God, who have no shame in that and who live that lifestyle in a way that translates through the TV to those watching.

Today I did a little bit of shameless internet surfing and found out that Shannon does some amazing art. She’s done some murals and such on the show, but I had no idea she had things available for purchase. Now, I just have to decide which one I want in my new house. 🙂

Also, in my shameless internet surfing, I found this interview and it confirmed again for me how cool these two are. Check it out.

So, if you get Fuel (Channel 740 on Comcast Digital Cable), check out On Surfari. It’s ok if you’re not into surfing because they do plenty of traveling and talking about the cultures of the places they visit. You will learn plenty about new places and maybe even something about God, too.

    Hi Amy,

Once every couple of months I shamelessly google “on surfari,” to see what comes up. To Shannon and I’s surprise your blog was 3rd under our website and myspace respectfully. I have to say your words are so encouraging (and well wrote) in so many ways, and it sounds like our message is clear…We recently received our first negative email (and it was a doozy) and it really bummed Shannon and I out, so you’ve really fired us up for our next trip to Nicaragua which we are leaving for in 10 days. God Bless you and thank you for taking the time out of your day to let others know about us too. Are you on our mailing list? Just asking because we’re going to start a periodic newsletter about how our fans can get involved On Surfari etc. Take care and God Bless you and your family.

Hey Amy! Thanks for linking to my interview with Shayne and Shannon. They are such cool people, so down to Earth and unaffected. I am such a big fan of theirs. Their show rocks and I can’t wait for more new episodes.
