So, I’m working on a little three-page paper for school (due Thursday) while also watching Evan Almighty…and, well also while writing a blog now. I’ve never seen it, but thanks to our free 6-month subscription to all the HBO channels, I DVRed a few weeks ago. Being a Steve Carrell fan, I’m not sure why I haven’t seen it before now. I’m only 10 minutes into the movie and I’m already loving it. I tried to find a video clip of Evan’s prayer at the beginning of the movie, but no such luck. In some ways it’s so hilarious and in other ways, so true of the things we pray–so centered around ourselves. If you haven’t seen the movie, try to…I typed out his prayer below, but his mannerisms and body language make it all that much better.
“Hello, there. Hi. This is Evan. Baxter. Um, just wanted to say thank you for everything. Thank you for the new car and for the house. The house is great. Um, love it. I mean, I picked it out, but you created matter and everything, so, ummm. I just wanted to say I think Joan makes a good point and that I am now at a position of great power and I know that with great power comes great responsibility. So, God, please help me change the world. Ok. That’s it. I’m hanging up now. God bless—well—you.”
Ok…back to the paper on blue ocean strategies.
